Search for the Cause - We just might stop cancer if we can find out why it starts

Peer Cities & Counties

Final Phase (PC2)

We are currently in the final phase of an extensive research endeavor produced in partnership with the Family Health Outcomes Project (FHOP) at UCSF, which compares a variety of factors in 33 cities and counties nationwide in an effort to determine if demographics or something specific to our location is the source of the problem. FHOP has completed the results and analysis and is awaiting publication.

The project will compare population characteristics and cancer rates with these very similar and dissimilar locations. The results of the study will hopefully help to identify what is different about Marin County that has resulted in such high cancer rates. The benefit to the peer counties listed is that each will be able to glean valuable data about their communities from this comparative study.
