Teens for Safe Cosmetics National Summit
The Summit is hosted and facilitated by teen campaign members inviting teens from across the country to participate. The goal is to teach participants about the campaign so they can return to their respective schools and start their own chapters of the Teens for Safe Cosmetics effort moving the momentum into a national forum. Teens attend panel dialogues led by experts including green business owners, non profit and political leaders and representatives from broadcast and print media to learn about the strategies for building an effective advocacy campaign. Visiting teens work together to create a blueprint for actions and next steps that will be implemented as the campaign grows and expands.
Ongoing efforts include letter writing campaigns to cosmetic companies, political lobbying, and outreach efforts to schools/ students throughout the Bay area. Green spas are frequently a part of our education and outreach to the schools and other venues. We do on average one per month.
We are a Campaign that accomplishes a tremendous amount because we are partnered with fantastic, empowered young women. As we grow and expand, so does our calendar of events and the opportunities to reach into other cities across the country. We are hoping to collaborate on a national partnership with Whole Foods Market which would be great for awareness and educating populations all over the country about “turning green”.
